Date/Time:

Topic/Skill:
Reading
Teacher’s
Presentation: Dr. Ríos started class by reminding students of their
presentations. Students must bring an article to class and teach for a whole
class period. Dr. Ríos handed out the presentation schedule and the handout to
prepare for the presentation. Each student will present on a section of “A Study
on the Korean Culture (History) Education for Foreign Learners”.
Classroom
Management: Dr. Ríos answered questions and gave students the presentation
schedule. The class went over the rubric.
Materials:
Power Point, worksheet and an episcope.
Student
Participation: Students were given an article, “Many Foreign Students are
Friendless in the USA”. Each student read a section of the article out loud.
They then discussed the article and shared their personal experiences. They had
to analyze the article and were given a worksheet to analyze the article. The
focus was on comprehension. Dissecting the article.
Feedback
Provided: The teacher provided detailed feedback on comprehension for each
student. He asked students if they understood certain vocabulary such as “metropolitan”
and “thus”. Dr. Dr. Ríos shared anecdotes about foreign student’s experiences
and asked them to share their own experiences.
Lesson(s)
on teaching you learned: The way Dr. Ríos provided detailed feedback on
students’ questions regarding the presentation assignment and the in-class
article, which I thought was excellent and will strive to do myself. Dr. Ríos
made the class fun by sharing anecdotes about his experiences and asking
students about their own. I learned a lot about teaching and making teaching
relaxed and fun from Dr. Ríos.
